I read your Mother Earth, Father Sky, and the books, My Sister The Moon and Brother Wind. I could not put them down. In the credits, or acknowledgements in one of the books you mentioned Pat H. And I wondered if that was my friend Pat Harasich, a beautiful Aleut girl who came to California to work in the war effort in 1942 to 1944. She and I were work partners building self sealing gasoline tanks for aircraft at the Goodyear Plant. She was the daughter of a Russian Missionary and an Aleutians lady. Pat told many stories about her life on the islands, and the people that lived there. She was so interesting to listen to, about the legends and lore of the Aleut people. She tried to teach me some of the language. I am nor sure of the spelling. ” amunada ” meant “hello”. I visited her home once, and she had a black labrador dog named Adak. Anyway, I joined the WAC in 1944 and lost contact with her. Could this Pat H. be my long lost friend?

I don’t think this is the same, Pat, Ella. She was too young, but I’m so glad that you commented. What an interesting story this is. I wish I could have met your Pat Harasich!!

I’m not sure if this Pat is your long-lost friend. I believe the Pat H. in my book may be too young to have worked in California in the 1940s. I hope you have the good fortune of connecting with your friend in the future!
