Welcome back to YOUR Novel! Let’s talk a bit about scenes. You can’t write a novel without scenes. Scenes are the molecular structure of story and thus of a book. I like literary agent Rachelle Gardner’s take on scenes. “A scene has three necessary elements: a location in time and space; action; and dialogue. Make…
A couple of years ago, I decided to jump-start my writing career. First, I gave my writing career to the Lord. (Again!) Then I had a serious heart-to-heart with my husband. Neil has always believed in my dreams. He told me to go for it, that whatever happened we’d be a team as we’ve always been….
Magazines have long served as one of my research resources. A favorite is “Archaeology,” a publication of the Archaeological Institute of America. In the May/June 2018 edition, I found a very short but interesting article about early horses. To summarize, Recent DNA research leads researchers to believe that Przewalski’s horses are not the last wild…

Open Road Integrated Media’s cover for the second book of The Storyteller Trilogy! What do you think?
Wow! I’m excited! This coming Thursday (Sept. 16) Rachelle Gardner – super agent with WordServe Literary – will feature one of my “ramblings” as the guest post on her Blog, http://cba-ramblings.blogspot.com/ . The noise you hear is me cheering for joy at such an opportunity. This past Sunday afternoon, Rachelle emailed a request for a photo or…

You’re welcome Courtney. I have learned so much from Rachelle’s site and from other sites that she has recommended. I’ll write a post to this Blog on Monday 9/20 about other writing sites I’ve found valuable. (Thank you for the idea!!)

Hi Sue,
Thanks for introducing me to Rachelle’s site – as a terribly new writer, and one terribly uninformed when it comes to publishing, I’d love to hear more about the sites you’ve found helpful.
Thank you, Erin! I’m learning so much about marketing and publishing through other writers’ websites and Blogs, too. I’ve been a long time “on the shelf”, having taken years off to care for my mother-in-law who had Alzheimer’s. Then because my chosen genre had really bottomed out, I had to find a new genre and learn (still have much to learn!) the “rules” of writing for those readers. It seemed a natural for me to swtich to inspirational fiction because I’ve been a Christian since I was a child, but that also meant finding a new agent, because my previous agent doesn’t represent inspirational fiction. Many changes and many challenges!
I’ll be dropping in on your blog, too! Happy writing!
Hi Sue! I loved your post on Rachelle’s website… and I so apprecaite you coming to mine!! Seriously, it’s so great to hear what other authors have done to market their books before me… especially authors like you who have clearly done it successfully!! Anyway, congrats and I’ll be checking in from time to time!
