The Wet Nurse’s Tale, a novel by Erica Eisdorfer, tells us a story through the eyes of Susan Rose, a wet nurse gifted in pluck, punnery and life’s wisdom. I loved the story and the insight into the past, when a woman’s worth might well be equated with the quality of her breast milk.
