The author of the Old Testament book, Esther, is unknown, but the story is set in the Persian Empire, and most of it takes place in the palace where Esther, a beautiful Jewess has become the queen of King Xerxes I. Her bravery in standing up for her own people and the outcome of the story make me cheer every time I read this book.
