AWARD
Wild Word Friday!
The word AWARD comes to us via a progression that goes backwards in time from the Middle English, awarden, to the Old Norman French, eswarder, to the Old French, esgarder. Esgarder springs from the Latin, ex-garder, which is the base word for many English words that refer to the concept of guarding and protecting, particularly in regard to judges and the court system.
Speaking (or writing) of AWARDs, in January I was excited to learn that IĀ I had received The Versatile Blogger AWARD. Like most blogger AWARDs, the Versatile Blogger is given to a blogger by a blogger. My AWARD was given to me by Lynn A. Davidson. Thank you so much, Lynn!
Lynn posts about her life as a Christian, a writer and as a caregiver for her elderly father. Check out her versatile and heart-touching blog at “Polilla Writes.” http://lynnadavidson.wordpress.com
As part of the “requirements” in accepting the Versatile Blogger AWARD, the awardee is asked to tell his or her blog readers 7 things about themselves that perhaps the readers didn’t know. These are my 7 things:
1. I married my husband one week before my 19th birthday. I was a child bride!
2. My favorite color is yellow, although I usually decorate with and wear mauves, blues and burgundies.
3. I play 7 musical instruments, none of them well. š
4. My dog’s name is Wofgang Amadeus after Mozart, one of my favorite composers. (Wofgang is purposely misspelled.)
5 & 6. I was a cheerleader in high school. That was back in the days when there were no girls’ sports. I longed to be a distance runner and participate in track.
7. I’m a certified Scuba diver.
Tell us something about you that most people don’t know!
Blessings!
Sue
We’re having a lovely early spring, Jackie, and also enjoying a visit from our daughter this week, which is so much fun. All is well. I am blessed.
Thank you very much Sue…a very nice thing to say, it made me think about myself. Hope you are doing well.
Jackie, I would have never guessed that you are flustered or scatter brained and disorganized, but however you are, I’m delighted to be a long-distance friend!! And I love your recipes! Maybe the disorganized part is just your creativity coming through!
I love that idea, Lynn. That you miss your own presence in other people’s perspective. I’ve never had that thought in my life, but I bet it’s the reason that I (and probably other people, too) often misunderstand another person’s take on a situation. I love thinking about new ideas and this is a new idea for me!
Sue, thank you for your so very kind words. š
You are an amazing person, sure wish we lived closer to one another.
What people don’t know about me is that I seem to miss my own presence in other people’s perspective. That will not make sense to you, perhaps, but … that’s okay. š
you are very versatile indeed Sue! a fantastic writer, musician and a scuba diver! wow!
congratulations on the award.
something about me that most people don’t know; people think I am practical, effective, down to earth and organized but deep down I am flustered, scatter brained and not organized ! ( I have to force myself every day to be the opposite of whom I really am ). :))
