Your Pet! Mackinac Horses!
Each June, the folks on a beautiful little island in northern Lake Huron (Michigan) celebrate a lilac festival. The island is Mackinac Island, (pronounced Mac-i-naw) famous for its horses, its Victorian-era charm and of course its lilacs.
For years, in my little hometown of Pickford the Mackinac horses come to our wide fields to spend the winter and dine on Pickford hay. The Pickford family that now hosts the Mackinac horses has sent YOUR PET! some beautiful photographs to celebrate the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival and the famous horses of Mackinac Island. If you ever yearn for a getaway on a small island in the Great Lakes, for horse-drawn carriages (Other than emergency vehicles, no motor vehicles are allowed on the island!) and the stately homes built in the 1800s, consider a vacation on Mackinac Island, and greet some of the horses that live on Jodi’s farm during a long quiet snowy winter.
Here’s the festival link: http://mackinacislandlilacfestival.blogspot.com/ This year the dates are June 8- 17.
Have you ever been to Mackinac Island?
Blessings,
Sue

What a glorious place to work, Julia! I think you and John have given your children and grandchildren such an incredible gift by raising them with appreciation for the farm life. My grandparents did that for me – one of the great gifts of my childhood!
Our own Judy Bishop is a horsebarn employee and sometimes taxi driver on beautiful Mackinac Isl. my favorite place to go.
Thank you for the gorgeous photos, Jodi! Looking forward to featuring your daughters on their horses in a few more weeks~
Wow! Thanks Sue! This is so cool!!Love it!
