August ’12 Free Book!

If you love romances set in the old west, you’ll love this month’s free book, written by my friend, Keli Gwyn.

  • Keli’s debut novel

From the back cover: “Widow Elenora Watkins heads to California with her nine-year-old daughter, eager to become a partner in a mercantile. When the mulish owner withdraws his offer because she’s a woman, Elenora opens her own shop. Widower Miles Rutledge is not about to get involved with another willful woman like his late wife, but the beautiful Elenora may be too hard to resist. When another man appears about to claim Elenora’s heart, Miles searches for a way to win her . . . while putting her out of business.”

A fun, sweet read with lots of authentic information about life in the 1870s, our August 2012 Free Book is a new trade-sized paperback. Your name will be entered in our Tuesday, August 28 drawing if you answer our question.

Q4Y: If you could open any kind of retail business that you wanted – where you wanted – what would it be?

  1. I would open up a Christian book store that also had a place you could lounge and read, have something to drink and just rest and relax and enjoy the solitude.

  2. Well, if Nancy O. won’t let me go into the yarn shop business (my 1st choice also!), I would open a laundromat. Sounds crazy, but we really need one in this area. :>)

  3. I would have a store filled with “things” that help, heal, and encourage hope from my perspective. So I would have therapy products, bible study materials, coffee/teas, knitted wears, books, etc. Most importantly, I would have a learning lounge where various topics would be discussed in loving manner.

  4. I have always loved to get my hands dirty so I would love to start a greenhouse.
I love to see flowers grow..

  5. I would love to own a sentiments store – full of things that people loved when they were younger, but gave away or lost and want to find it again for their child(ren).

  6. I would open up book store & place to have coffee while checking out all the fabulous books. Not sure whether I would get any work done!!

  7. Next to a book store, I think a card shop would be wonderful. I love browsing for cards and always have a stack tucked away for special occasions or everyday encouragements. Finding ones with *the* perfect message for a particular recipient always gives me a rush. LOL!

I don’t think a mercantile would suit my abilities too well, but it’s apparently just the thing for Keli’s Elenora.

  8. I wish our little town had a craft shop, Wilma. Maybe you could open one here? Ever think about living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. You have to love snow!

  9. I don’t think I’d do a good job running a bookstore, Patricia, but I’ve often thought that I could happily LIVE in one!
