SPLADE
Wild Word Friday!
My friend Trish responded to a FaceBook post in which I asked which kitchen gadget you would most hate to give up. She responded by saying, her SPLADE.
Trish is from Australia, and so I immediately asked her if a SPLADE was an Australian kitchen gadget, because I’d never heard of one before. She sent a photograph and an explanation, which I share here: A SPLADE is “a great little fork to have in one’s kitchen. No need to have a knife with it and perfect for eating spaghetti, as on the side of the fork it has a cutting side (not sharp). Ideal when struggling with long spaghetti! Also, I use it a lot for stirfry and rice. Do you have something similar to a SPLADE?”
So, a SPLADE is a spoon with a blade and also has a bit of the runcible about it. If you are unfamiliar with the term runcible, check out our September 2, 2011 Wild Word post here: sueharrison.com/2011/09/runcible/
Thank you, Trish, for a great “new” word and gadget!
How about you? Do you have or use something similar to a SPLADE?
Blessings!
Sue

Wow, I wished they sold kiwi’s that way in the US, Jackie!
nice gadget! When I buy Kiwi’s they sometimes come with a green sturdy plastic fork with a little knife on the side of the fork, very handy!
I could not live without my handblender, I use it for blending curries, soups etc.
