May 2013 2nd Free Book!

Our second FREE BOOK this month is by one of my favorite authors, Geraldine Brooks. She has won a Pulitzer Prize for her work, and the only fair way to describe her prose is by calling it poetry. She writes for the general market, and the book we are giving away is her novel, PEOPLE OF THE BOOK.

People of the Book

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

From the jacket fly-leaf: “In 1996, a rare book expert is offered the job of a lifetime: analysis and conservation of a mysterious, beautifully illuminated Hebrew manuscript created in fifteenth-century Spain and recently saved from destruction during the shelling of Sarajevo’s libraries. When Hanna Heath . . . discovers a  series of tiny artifacts in the book’s ancient binding, she begins to unlock the mysteries of the book’s eventful past and to uncover the dramatic stories of those who created it and those who risked everything to protect it.”

Our FREE BOOK is a new hardcover edition.  To qualify for the Wednesday, May 22 drawing, please answer this question:

If war threatened and you could save only one of your books, which one would it be?

Blessings!

  1. Very good question… I would love to say 1 of my Sue Harrison’s books, but then I would miss the other 5 to much… so … in a practical sense I would bring a book called: how to survive war, practical tips. ( I don’t even know if such book exist ).

  2. How difficult of a decision! I am not sure I could choose. Does the kindle count as one book? Hehe! I know it doesn’t. Since it would require internet access and electricity, which would not be a sure thing during war. Umm…my choice would be the Bible. I could view all other “stories” in a way in the world around me, but the word of God is very important.

(I also have the Bible on my Kindle.)
