A Glance Back – Snow Storm!

Today was one of those sweet days that I get to stay home and write! I was so wrapped up in the world I was writing about that I wasn’t paying much attention to what was going on outside my windows

Then my dad called. I was surprised to hear that he was not able to get home from the assisted living facility in a neighboring town where my mom lives. Dad visits her each day, and I show up three days a week to keep him company and to be there for my mom.

“Now don’t you try to get out in this,” he scolded, and I promised him I wouldn’t.  It wasn’t a difficult promise to keep!

About an hour later my daughter-in-law called and mentioned that the Mackinac Bridge was closed (The Mackinac is a 5-mile suspension bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas.) and a couple of major highways as well. Yikes!

Well, my father got antsy and did risk the drive and did arrive home safely, although all five of his kids would not have been happy had we known he was attempting it. But now the family is snugged in, and my husband and I are about to have one of those evenings that we both love. Warm, safe, and with nothing much to do, except read and watch a favorite movie and probably pop some popcorn. Yay! A perfect winter night!

How did you spend your Friday night?

Stay warm!

Sue

  1. Thank you, Diane. It is such a delight to be able to stay home because of a storm. For us, a storm and no electrical outage is a double blessing, and our electricity was strong and stable through our storm over the weekend! Yay~ You are so fortunate to live in Nova Scotia. I’ve heard it’s gorgeous!!

  2. We’ve had a lot of snow the past few weeks in Nova Scotia, Canada, too. And like you, I’m happy to stay at home on stormy nights, pop popcorn, watch a movie, read or write.

    The log cabin looks beautiful.
