Eastern European Research Trip – Budapest!
Neil and I arrive in Budapest, Hungary, at about 1 p.m. We take a taxi from the airport to our hotel, the Budapest Marriott, which is located right on the Danube River! The lobby welcomes us with dark elegant paneling, flowers, and chandeliers.
The Lobby of the Budapest Marriott
We have a great room with a window view of the river. Our travel time from home extended past the 20-hour mark, so we collapse into much needed naps.
One corner of our room at the Marriott.
Another corner, bed to the left. Nap time!!
After a couple of hours catching up on our sleep, we’re anxious to explore, and Budapest, with its friendly population, and pedestrian-only bricked walkways, definitely invites exploration.
We track down a recommended eatery that serves authentic Hungarian food, and spoil ourselves with a delicious dinner at the Százéves Étterem, an elegant restaurant which is more than 100 years old.
The Beautiful Szzázéves Étterem
Neil orders Grey Cattle steak with potato pancakes and a wild mushroom torte. I order veal stew wrapped in a potato pancake with sour cream, and, of course, we share! Everything is delicious!
After eating, we walk back to the Hotel, delighting in the beautiful night-time view. Tomorrow, we hope you’ll come with us on a Budapest city tour!
Happy Traveling,
Sue
