June 2015 FREE BOOKS!!
I just added an incredible book to my library, and I want to share it with as many people as possible. The book is a release from the Michigan State University Press and is entitled, HERE — WOMEN WRITING ON MICHIGAN’S UPPER PENINSULA, edited by Dr. Ronald Riekki.
One of the reasons I’m so excited about this book is that I’m convinced it is a classic, the first of its kind, a book about the place I call home by women who have long celebrated Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through their words. It includes stories, book excerpts, and poems from many writers, including Elinor Benedict, Catie Rosemurgy, Gloria Whelan, Ellen Airgood, and Bame-Wa-Wa-Ge-Zhik-Aquay, one of the very first Native American writers. Her short stories were an important source material for the epic poem, The Song of Hiawatha.
HERE is not only a regional book. It deserves notice in the big wide world. That’s why I’m giving away TWO copies, one for the winner of our drawing, and a second copy for the winner to donate to his or her favorite public or school library.
To have your name included in our Wednesday, June 24 drawing, tell us the name of the library to which you would donate that extra copy.
Happy Reading!
Sue
