Where I live, Winter is COLD! Homemade split pea soup with carrots, chopped onion and a large diced potato cooked with a ham bone (lots of meat still left on the bone). Served over Jasmine rice in a big bowl and some cornbread.

Homemade chunky chili. Make lots and use in other recipes, too, like nachos, iver spaghetti noodles, in a tacoish salad, and more. Yum!!!

Stuffed cabbage is my favorite go to. My mother in law was polish and taught me how to make this dish. I don’t think I will ever compare to her but it is still one of my husband’s favorite.

Honestly, In the winter I’m tied between Mac and Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese. Both are my favorite comfort meals!

My favorite winter dish is a spicy pot of chili preferably with a pan of cornbread cooked in my mom’s cast iron skillet.
