October 2020 FREE BOOK!

Our October Free Book is Sara Peretsky’s most recent in her V.I. Warshawski series. You might notice something a bit different about our give-away copy. this month. Check out the yellow notice in the upper right of the cover–Advance Reader’s Edition (ARE).

Most of us never get our hands on an ARE. That’s because they’re mailed out BEFORE the book is published, and they’re mailed to the movers and shakers of the book world: reviewers, bookstore owners, media moguls… Added to the usual back cover copy is information about the proposed marketing campaign for the book. One of the promotions for this novel was an “early ARE giveaway to consumers.” That’s how I received this ARE. I won it in a drawing! Now I’m going to give it away to one of you, also in a drawing! And I will be reviewing the book for Amazon. Meanwhile, when the book came out last April, I bought myself an ebook version. So I still own a copy.
