January 2021 Free Book!

If you’ve been reading my posts over the past few years, it will be no surprise to you that I am a great fan of Canadian novelist, Janie Chang. It’s my privilege in this first month of the New Year to give away an amazing novel, a combination of history, fantasy, and a love story, THE LIBRARY OF LEGENDS.

From the back cover, “China, 1937: When Japanese bombs begin falling on the city of Nanking, nineteen-year-old Hu Lian and her classmates at Minghua University are ordered to flee. Lian and a convoy of students, faculty, and staff must walk a thousand miles to safety…. And it is not just the refugees who are at risk: the group has been entrusted with a priceless treasure, a five-hundred-year-old collection of myths and folklore known as the Library of Legends.”

Our Free Book is a new trade paperback edition. To have your name included in our Wednesday, January 13 drawing, just answer this question:

Chang’s book includes a map to show the route students took on the journey to save the Library. As a reader, driver, or traveler, are you a map person?

Happy New Year!

  1. I love the variety in comments we received on this question, here and on my FB page (Sue Harrison Author). Some of us are map readers and some not, but maps do bring back memories of trips, people we love, and places we’ve been or hope to go!!

  2. I love maps. My grandfather used to sit and retrace his travels after he retired. Now I find myself doing the same. Memories in each turn.

  3. Honestly no I’m not a map person. Well except for when playing a game that requires the skills. I come from Kentucky. So to get around its always.
