September 2024 FREE BOOK!

We are excited to welcome the fall season with Angeline Boulley’s incredible new novel WARRIOR GIRL UNEARTHED as our September 2024 FREE BOOK!

(The silver medallion on the cover doesn’t show up in the photo, but it is a seal from the American Indian Library Association that Boulley’s novel has won their Youth Literature Award.)

From the flyleaf: “Perry Firekeeper-Birch has always known who she is–the laid-back twin, the troublemaker, the best fisher on Sugar Island. Her aspirations won’t ever take her far from home, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. But as the already striking number of missing Indigenous women continues to rise, as her family becomes embroiled in a high-profile murder investigation, and as greedy grave robbers seek to profit off what belongs to her Anishinaabe tribe, Perry begins to question everything…”

Like Boulley’s first novel FIRE KEEPER’S DAUGHTER, this beautifully written novel is set in familiar territory for all of us who live in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula–Sault Ste. Marie, St. Ignace, and Sugar Island. The story took my heart, as did main character Perry Firekeeper-Birch, and I could not put this book down! Our September 2024 give-away copy is a new hardcover edition.

To have your name included in our September 25 drawing, just answer this question (which highlights a scene in the book): What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? (Praline for me!)

Happy Reading!

Sue

  1. My favorite was banana split, but they quit selling it some years ago. I guess now my favorite would be moose tracks, but i’m not picky. Ice cream here in louisiana growing up, was always such a treat, a way to help cool down abit when it is so very hot out.
