Your Pet! Daisy!

Owner Becky Danielson describes her dog, Daisy, as her “constant companion.”

Daisy was supposed to be a great bird dog but after two weeks of training, the trainer told Becky’s husband, “Sorry, this ain’t a huntin’ dog.” Becky says that when Daisy is in the kitchen garden she chases rabbits, chipmunks, and squirrels out of the vegetable and flower beds, but that’s the extent of her hunting skills. So Daisy – who “prefers not to get her feet wet or muddy” – has turned out to be a “girlie girl.” But Becky tells us that “with all the boys in the house, it’s nice to have another female around. Her hot pink collar is perfect!”

How about your dogs or cats or . . . um snakes, chameleons, mules, horses (What am I leaving out?)  Are they “into” mud? I’m sad to say that the dirtier and smellier our schnauzer is the happier he is!

Blessings!

  1. Daisy has such a pretty face, Becky. Why should she mess it up by grubbing around in the mud or crashing through shrubs to hunt for small, smelly beasts?
Nice veggie planters, by the way.

  2. Thank you Carol! Daisy is a sweetie. She loves to romp in the backyard with my boys, chasing baseballs. She also likes to snooze at my feet in the home office while I’m working. Golden Retrievers are great family dogs. I’m sure your friend has lots of fun stories!

  3. What a sweetie! I have a friend who breeds Golden Retrievers. She says they aren’t usually like the public perceive them — not the lay-peacefully-by-the-fireplace kind of dog you often see on Christmas cards… at least, not until they’re quite old. Hers are very active, and have no qualms about romping through the mud and then shaking it all over her. But they are incredibly sweet natured. Daisy looks like she is, too.
