Wild Word Friday! This summer when I was reading some poems to my youngest granddaughter, we came across that old favorite The Owl and the Pussy Cat. You probably remember that “The owl and the pussy cat went to sea/in a beautiful pea-green boat”, and that “they took some honey and plenty of money/ wrapped up…
About Fruit Cake
When I was a child, we always received a Christmas package from my Grandma Kate and Grandpa Bob, and another from my aunt’s mother, Mrs. Tost. Grandma Kate’s box included a generous chunk of her dark fruit cake. Mrs. Tost, who lived a very elegant and privileged life, sent us a plum pudding and rum sauce in a…
CANOE
Wild Word Friday! It’s difficult to find anything more exciting, in a quiet gentle way, than paddling down a slow river in a CANOE. I’m sure many people would rather have their excitement come to them in a more dramatic fashion, but a slow CANOE ride is just my style. A Voyaguer’s CANOE in a…

hi Sue,
Today, the last day of the year, we received post, my little 7-year old daughter took the letter out of the mail box and said; it is a letter with a lot of funny looking stamps on it, she read them all ( yes! she can read now 🙂 ), and saw the letter came ALL the way from the U S A!… she said; it is for you mammy……
We both opened the letter, saw the beautiful card and together read what was written inside, she looked at me with her big innocent eyes and said; that is very nice mammy to have a friend in America.
I felt quite emotional and grateful to know you Sue. Thank you very much.
love,
Jackie and family
What a beautiful story about you and your daughter, Jackie. I’m the one who is emotional and honored to be considered a friend by you. Your description of your daughter and her reaction just takes my heart! Thank you, Jackie.
