October 2013 1st Free Book!
Our first FREE BOOK in October is from the “Avenue of Dreams” series by my friend Olivia Newport. Set in Chicago in the late 1800s, each of these novels is a stand-alone read about different women connected in some way to the wealthy families of Chicago’s high society. Our October Free Book is THE INVENTION OF SARAH CUMMINGS.
From the back cover: Sarah Cummings “has one goal in life – to break into Chicago’s high society…When opportunity knocks, she presents herself as Serena Cuthbert, weaving a fictitious past to go with her fictitious name…Can she piece together the perfect life from scraps? Or will it all come unraveled in the face of true love?”
This is a delightful romance and kept me up past my bedtime so I could find out how Sarah solved her many problems! Our free copy is a new trade paperback.
To qualify for the Wednesday, October 9 drawing, please answer this question:
The protagonist of THE INVENTION OF SARAH CUMMINGS loves to dress up in fancy clothes. Do you? (Tux’s for guys, evening gowns for gals.)
Blessings!
Sue
I agree. It wouldn’t be fun for me to dress up if Neil wasn’t ready to put on his tux and join the fun! But both of us are jeans/sweats people 98 per cent of the time.
I think a lot of it depends on our spouse and what they are comfortable with too. We still get dressed up for church on Sunday. I prefer my jeans and a nice sweater which is why I love fall so much! This looks like a great book!
I’m not a dress up person. I wear dresses, but they are comfortable summer dresses that I prefer to shorts. My favorite clothes are a pair of flannel pants with a waffle-weave sweater. But I never-ever-ever wear that out in public!!! And I’m seriously appareled at how many do. It’s a sad commentary on our times when I go to the gas station in my jeans and feel over-dressed. 🙁
I love the cover of this book! Give me a ladies maid and someone to style my hair and do my make-up I’ll get dressed up. 🙂 I could have enjoyed the pampering of the rich in the days this novel is set. Otherwise, I think I’ll stick to comfy clothes. It’s hard enough for me just to get ready for work everyday. Maybe it comes from being raised on a farm. Love my hubby’s flannel shirts in the winter and a pair of comfy pajama bottoms to run around the house in on a weekend at home.
I can’t even remember the last time I got dressed up except for church! Jeans are my thing. Book sounds really interesting, can’t wait to read it. Thanks.
I recently had the time to through my mothers pictures, and she dresses us up for all special holidays or special events. We recently had a family wedding to attend and someone took a family picture of myself and family dress nicely and I enjoyed see everyone looking good even if they did complain a little
I love to get dressed up! There just aren’t enough occasions these days to get dressed up.
I love to dress up, especially since I don’t get the opportunity to very often. It’s wonderful to look in the mirror and see something beyond the everyday wardrobe. Thanks for the giveaway!
I used to love to dress up and still do, on occasion. But the older I get, I go for comfort.
I do not like to dress up but do it once a year for our work Christmas party. I sure would like to win this book!!! Olivia Newport is one of my very favorite authors ever.

I like to dress up occasionally, but I never have the opportunity. Consequently, I do not have any fancy clothes, so if I ever got the chance to go somewhere, I wouldn’t have anything to wear.
No, I don’t do dress up, I did somewhat in high school, many moons ago, lol, but not now.
I would really like to win this book though, it sounds great.

I don’t like to dress up quite that much, but I do love my flowing skirts.
I would love to dress up in a gown, but have never had that privilege. I love dressing up for church and wearing heels. Would love to win.
I’m a jeans and comfy pants kinda girl. Of course, if we could get a babysitter, I would love to go out in an evening dress. 🙂
Yes, I love to dress up, unfortunately don’t get enough opps these days. But who knows maybe one of these days !! It reminds me of how women in days gone by are often portrayed in movies and books. Love it!
On special occasions.
When I was younger I loved to get dressed up, but not anymore. Cozy and comfy is my style.
For me dressed up is my Sunday Best. I love putting on a dress to go to church, I am definitely wanting to read this book.
For all the years prior to retirement “dressed up” referred to my Sunday best… something suitable for church or similar daytime event. I’ve never cared for the really fancy, going-to-a-ball, kind of dress — it’s just not “me” — but I like long skirts with simple, comfy tops at Christmastime, or long summery dresses for an evening barbecue gathering on the patio.
Sarah/Serena sounds like she might have created quite a dilemma for herself! 🙂
Those are the best evenings, Antoinette!
I’m mostly a jeans girl, too, Sue (or sweat pants) but sometimes I like to dress up!
No I do not like dressing up, never have, if I can’t wear jeans I don’t go.
I use to love those evenings when my husband and I would get a chance to go out for a movie and dinner ….as we have moved to a town without any movie theatre the only time I dress up is when I go grocery shopping and well I don’t really care to have the cashiers think I’m looking sexy..but that’s just me..
