SEPTEMBER FREE BOOK!!!!

I apologize to everyone for the delay in posting our September Free Book (this month 2 books!). Many of you know that my father passed away on September 16, and our family has been celebrating him and his wonderful 96 years of life this past week. It was a joyous and precious family time, with all 5 of us siblings and our spouses and many of our children and grandchildren able to spend hours of reminiscing together.

But now onto another joy in my life–my blog and readers and friends and the celebration of wonderful books!

This month we are giving away two books written by James P. Hill, one of my lifelong friends and a talented writer who grew up in my home town of Pickford, Michigan. Jim has worked in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and is now a retired university professor. His political expertise shines through in his novels.

In the Arms of Gitche Gumee and Saving Gitche Gumee both feature the feisty and appealing main character Evangeline LeBlanc, a First American woman from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. From the flyleaf, “Her life’s journey would be a turbulent one, but one which would eventually lead her to the nation’s capital, where she would play a pivotal role in the 2024 Presidential election.” To add to the joy of reading these books, the wilderness areas and the Native cultures of the U.P. are much celebrated through the characters and the plots of the books.

To have your name included in our Wednesday, October 4 drawing, just answer this question: have you had the privilege of spending time in wilderness areas?

  1. Sometimes the best adventures of all are those we read or write, Ron!!! (Your books will be featured next month on this blog!!!)

  2. I have spent a few stints in the wilderness. In particular a week in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and two trips into the Bridget Wilderness in Wyoming’s Wind River Range.
But, by far, most of my wilderness excursions have been in my mind while reading other authors’ work or writing my own historical stories.

  4. The times I’ve been in wilderness are few but special to me. First was a camping trip near WaWa, Ontario. 4-5 days of very few creature comforts. The serenity and beauty were amazing. Other than that was Bill’s hunting property near Pickford. Again, few amenities but lots of nature sounds and sights. This may not be considered wilderness to some but felt like it to me.
