Probably American Irish isn’t very Irish at all as far as dinners go, Jackie! Corned beef and cabbage, onions, potatoes, carrots.
I love hearing about your visit to the zoo. What a great gift idea, and you are making such beautiful memories!! I love the idea of the memorial cross, too. I know the Pope is called of God, but I still think that has to be one of the most difficult ‘jobs’ (don’t know if that’s the right term) in the world!

We had great craic at the zoo, it was very busy , people dressed in green and generally very happy. The children loved it, last year we received a great gift from my mother-in-law : an annual pass to Dublin zoo, it is only 15 minutes away and we go there often, the zoo is located in Phoenix park a fantastic 700 acre park with beautiful nature, wild deer and stately homes, in the middle of the park is a gigantic cross known as the papal cross . The pope came to Ireland in 1973 or 1979 I forgot which date exactly and the people of Ireland came together and build the cross. Very impressive I must say.
I hope you had a great time, Jackie! In Pickford we have too much snow and cold for a parade, but lots of folks are wearing green, and Neil’s cousin is doing his annual “step dance,” which is what folks around here call Irish dancing. Our daughter will be home to visit this weekend and we are planning an Irish supper. All so much fun!
