Ice Storm
You’d think, since I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, that I’d be used to ice storms. Not so. Our weather here is usually too cold for ice storms. We get snow.
However, last Saturday our April temperatures were too warm for snow and too cold for rain. We had ice. Five electric poles just south of town fell under the weight of the ice, probably with some help from the wind. My husband tells me that likely, at first, only one pole fell, but it dragged down the next pole and the next and the next until five were gone, snapped off just above the ground.
Sometimes, that’s how life is. We survive the onslaught of a storm until the one next to us goes down. Then we snap, too. Those beside us fall, and our world is chaos. Until finally, one person refuses to break. One person stands strong enough to hold.
Let’s take a moment to bless those who are strong enough to stand despite the ice storms of life. To stand and to hold until we are able once again to stand beside them.
Q4U: Are there people in your life who stand strong for you? Take a moment to post a name or two on this blog. I’ll start it off: my husband, my mom, my dad.
