Kid Talk

The other day a friend and I were discussing our grandchildren, and she related a cute comment made by her 3-year-old grandson.  Since that conversation, I’ve been remembering all the funny things I’ve heard children say, some wise and others silly.

One of my favorite “kid sayings” was from one of our DGDs (Darling Granddaughters), when she was about 2 1/2. She was whizzing around the house at high speed and her aunt, our daughter, said, “Maybe you should slow down a little. You might fall and break your nose.” DGD put her  hands on her nose, gave it wiggle and said, “I can’t break my nose. It’s stuck tight on.”

At a family wedding, our grandniece, age 18 months, was passed into a car for a hug from her great grandmother who was sitting in the back seat. Our precocious little niece noticed the strange surroundings and started hollering, “Wong cah (wrong car)!” at the top of her lungs.  How do little kids know so much?

Q4U: Do you have any favorite kid sayings? We’d love to share the laughter and the wisdom!

Blessings!

  2. Thank you so much for your kind words about my novels, Jennifer. I love to write and when the market for “prehistoric” fiction dried up, I tried my hand at other genres. During this time I was also caregiving for my mother-in-law who had Alzheimer’s and my father-in-law, so I didn’t have that much time to dedicate to writing. When my mother-in-law passed away, I felt a real leading of the Lord to try writing for the inspirational market. I’ve been a born again Christian since I was only five years old, and now am really enjoying writing for the Christian market. I have found an agent who represents novels to Chrisitian publishers, so I hope we are successful in finding a publisher who is interested in my work!

  3. Hi! This is a general comment and I wasnt quite sure where to put those..so here it goes!

I recently recieved you novel, “My Sister the Moon” from my mom and I could NOT put it down! I love, love, love it! I was thrilled to find that it was part of a trilogy and that, through this website, you have written another trilogy.

I can’t wait to begin the other books in the “Ivory Carver Trilogy”. You have such a way with your words-how they flow-they draw the reader in and they get lost in the reality of it all.

I’m also beyond thrilled finding out of your faith in God. As a born-again Christian, I am so thankful for finding your novels. I read it without know that about you and am thankful for that unexpected gift! God bless you, your family, and your work!

  4. I have 4 children, Ruud is 21 Sanne is 19 Fionnuala is 5 and Liam is 3. Sanne is living in Holland at the moment to study and comes over to Dublin a few times a year, all of us pick her up from the airport.
From the attic window you can see the airport lights, when my 5 year old daughter looks out of that window she says: “that’s where Sanne is living!!”
She just can’t understand that Sanne actually has to fly to get here. Very cute.

  5. well, he’s only in pre-school, but it wouldn’t surprise me!! I’m talking about Michelle Bush’s youngest son…………what a cutie!!

  6. Grandson who is 5 completed his swimming lessons (he is the youngest in a class with 6 & 7 year old kids). The instructor handed out the evaluations. The other kids all scattered, but he sat down on the bench and studied his eval……….of course, he can’t read yet!! (he didn’t advance to the next class, but this was not a surprise as he is only FIVE!!). After studying the paper for a few minutes, he started shaking his head and said “I’m going to be in this stinkin’ class FOREVER!!!”
