East to Northeast
Yesterday we had the joy of visiting with friends from New Jersey. Actually, Karen has been a friend for a long time, but this was our first opportunity to meet her husband Fred and to catch up on all the news about their incredible and newly blended family. It was a great visit. Fred and my husband Neil chatted like old friends. They’re both computer nuts and into fishing. Karen and I felt like sisters at a family reunion.
Today is a cleaning and baking day, and then we will have two more groups coming for the Memorial Day weekend. I’ll try hard to get a couple of hours writing on Wednesday and Thursday, and then settle back for a lot of laughter and time to talk. We haven’t been together since last fall. Winters here are long and solitary, but we make up for that during the summer with lots of visitors. Here’s hoping that the mosquitoes decide to visit elsewhere for the next week or so. (Or for the whole summer if they would be so inclined!)
So during most summers, we stay home and enjoy the friends and family who come to the lake to stay and enjoy cool breezes. What about you? Do you have any summer travel plans or do you enjoy summer at home?
Blessings!
Sue
In summer in Perth we get to stay home alot more because of our very long hot dry summers giving our gardens some TLC other wise they would just curl over and go to heaven.Plus we do have great outdoor life style of going to the beach and having BBQ with friends. This year I had some time at my brother place close to the beach living on top of hill with perfect views of the ocean and estuary.Just awesome.
Hi Jackie, I’m Sue Harrison 40 on Facebook. In the photo that comes up, I’m wearing a dark red turtleneck shirt. Friend me!
Sue.. what is your name on Facebook? I typed in “Sue Harrison” but then I get hundreds Sue Harrison’s .
my husband is very much into computers too Sue, I love that because it means I don’t have to go to much into all that silly technical stuff that I am not very interested in.
Oh Jackie, what great get-aways! And the house swap sounds like such a good idea, too. I always love summer houses. They hold great memories and that special sea-breeze smell of summer.
We have some lovely views of our bay, although today the water is rough and that kicks up the sand and makes it brown looking. It’s so pretty when it is blue. If I ever figure out how to put photos on this blog (We have a technical problem that my husband can’t even solve), I’ll put on a couple of sunset views. I do have one on my photos at my Twitter site. (At least I figured that one out!)
This year, just like last year, we do a “houseswap” with a family from Holland. They stay in our house and we stay in their house, we also swap cars, it is a great way of living the “real life” in a country without to much costs, just the flight tickets and petrol.
We also go to Ballyferitter on the Dingle Peninsula in the west of Ireland for a week, my husband’s aunt has a second home over there. The house sits on a amazing beautiful spot, it is on the very edge of a cliff overlooking the atlantic ocean.
We feel blessed to be able to do and enjoy these things.
Where you live Sue must be totally mind blowingly beautiful.
