Your Pet! MIGGEE!

MIGGEE – THE SURVIVOR

This sweet little kitten was a feral cat tamed by Cheryl Nettleton. Cheryl found the kitten under her deck last fall. Cheryl’s daughter and husband, Michelle and Andy, adopted “Miggee” once Cheryl had tamed her.

Cheryl says, “Miggee is a pretty talented cat. She can play fetch as well as any dog. She  opens doors, turns on the bathtub faucet and also pushes the the stopper down to fill the tub up with water. She loves water, so Andy and Michelle started shutting the bathroom door. Of course that’s when Miggee learned the art of opening doors.

Andy came home for lunch one day and found Miggee locked in the bathroom and the bathroom flooded. Miggee had pushed the stopper down and turned the water on in the tub. Somehow she closed the bathroom door and was locked inside. Miggee was soaking wet as was everything else in the bathroom.

Cheryl says, “You would think that she would be afraid of water now, but she still comes running when she hears the water running in the bathroom.

The above photo was taken when Miggee was a kitten. Miggee is now a year old but still very tiny and petite.

Since I wrote the rough draft of the above post, Andy and Michelle and Miggee survived a house fire. Andy was home from work sick and taking a nap. Miggee was shut out of the bedroom, so she wouldn’t bother Andy, and Michelle wasn’t home. Meanwhile, some faulty wiring in their home started a fire. Andy escaped through a bedroom window, but the family was quite sure they’d lost Miggee. Once the local fire department had the fire out (It pretty much gutted the inside of the house.), one of the firefighters – a guy who really, really doesn’t like cats, but is one of Andy’s best friends – went over to the house to see if he could find any sign of Miggee. She was there – safe but hiding and very frightened. Andy spent most of a week in intensive care for smoke inhalation but is now doing well. He and Michelle, and everyone in their little town of Pickford were cheered and amazed by Miggee’s survival.  Miggee – definitely a cat with 9 lives!

All you cat owners out there – have your cats survived any life-threatening circumstances?

Blessings!

Sue
