When our children were small, my husband’s parents owned a wonderful black lab named Charlie. He was a patient and loving friend to our son and daughter. Whenever I think of Charlie, I remember him lying patiently while my children adorned him with daisies all down his back. What a sweet dog!

Although I’ve bred, raised and exhibited Shetland Sheepdogs for over 35 years, my parents had Labs, and now in retirement I admit to currently having a black one. My Shelties were always sweet and gentle, but in a perky, petite way. My 90 lb. Lab is also sweet and gentle… but in a lumbering, goofy way. He’s very comfortable to live with. 🙂
… oh, and his name is Tynan. That’s Gaelic for ‘the dark one’.
