Puppy Love/Airedale!

The Airedale is the largest of all terriers and was originally bred to hunt water otters. The breed was developed from the black-and-tan terrier and the otter hound and takes its name from the area where it originated – the River Aire region in Yorkshire, England.

I’ve never had the privilege of personally knowing an Airedale. Have you?

Blessings!

Sue

Enjoy a few sweet photos!

  1. Yes, I understand, Carol. I think the most important thing about owning a dog is that heart connection, and it sounds like your heart connection is definitely with Shelties! We have a terrier – schnauzer- and love him to death. We just have him clipped. He’s not a show dog, so we don’t worry about the stripping. I love having a dog as very special part of my life!!

  2. A friend of mine in the dog show world breeds Airedales. Like all terriers, they have delightful spunk. Truthfully though, I’m not a terrier fan, partly because they are so feisty, but partly because I’m too lazy to do all the hand stripping that most of their coats require for maintenance. (I guess my admission doesn’t carry a lot of weight with terrier folks, since it comes from a Sheltie breeder of 35+ years who took an hour to do a thorough grooming on each dog every week!!!)
